From April 17 to 23, 2026, Medina Art Gallery presents the solo exhibition The Cycle of Dragonflies
by Serbian artist Aleksandra Stefanović, accompanied by a curatorial text by Ms. Lilly Randzio, at Via
Merulana 220, Rome.
The opening event will be held on Friday, April 17, at 6:00 PM, at Medina Art Gallery, Via Merulana 220.
With The Cycle of Dragonflies, Aleksandra Stefanović presents a body of work that unfolds both as an
intimate confession and a universal reflection on transformation and inner awakening. Born in 1996 in
Prokuplje, Serbia, the artist initially studied International Relations at the Faculty of
Political Sciences in Belgrade before dedicating herself fully to painting. Her artistic practice developed as a
personal search for identity and authenticity, gradually evolving into a distinctive and expressive visual language
, grounded in intuition and emotional depth.
The exhibition features eighteen paintings from the Dragonfly Cycle, a project that combines painting and narrative elements
to explore themes of personal transformation, vulnerability, freedom of choice, and emotional connection. At the heart
of this cycle is the dragonfly, a symbol of transformation in many cultural traditions; in
Stefanović's work, it becomes a metaphor for the process of self-discovery and the courage to embrace one's
authenticity. The paintings on display were created over the past two years, a period the artist describes as one of
profound personal transition. Through lyrical color harmonies, fluid transitions, and
atmospheric compositions, Stefanović constructs dreamlike visual spaces in which aquatic landscapes, flowers, and suspended dragonflies evoke
both serenity and introspection.
At Medina Art Gallery in Rome, The Cycle of Dragonflies unfolds as a poetic exploration of
transformation, offering visitors the opportunity to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the delicate movements
of their inner world.
